We sit dangling our feet
over a cliff’s edge.
inhaling a breeze of talcum powder
…and other sharp items.
what thrill.
our shadows had grown to giants
when the sun broke its yolk into the sky,
the horizon gave birth to it.
that feeling
you cannot succumb to
a finger stroking eyelashes
unforgiving silver blade under lower lip;
that raw chewing noise…
your cheek is in the way of your teeth.
no,
you’re nibbling the inside of your cheek.
and now.
I swallowed you whole
a curvaceous triangular pill
that excreted metallic taste.
yesterday had come
when today had went.
and it was as simple as learning.
learning again:
to blow bubblegum bubbles.
a sarcastic raise of an eyebrow,
we cross our ring and pinky fingers.
ecstatically real;
a firm push on the black button
sewn on the chest of cradling sweater.
We sat dangling our feet
over a cliff’s edge.
inhaled a breeze of talcum powder
…and other sharp items.
